At The Cheese Yard, we have put together a very special selection of cheese especially for Father's Day on Sunday, June 21st. The Father's Day Cheese Selection is a wonderful collection of three great English cheeses together with a jar of the very tasty Rosebud Preserves Old Yorkshire Chutney.

We have chosen three of our current favourite cheeses to go into the Father's day Selection - the strong and creamy Somerset Cheddar Westcombe Cheddar, the king of all blue cheeses Stilton Cropwell Bishop, and Golden Cross a wonderfully light goats milk cheese from East Sussex.

The Father's Day Cheese Selection comes packaged in our very smart Cheese Yard gift box and includes a Cheese Yard greetings card printed with a message of your choice. The selection costs just £35 including free weekday delivery to any address within the UK. The Cheese Yard Father's Day Selection makes a great gift for any father who loves cheese...!

Some information on the cheese we have chosen:

Westcombe Cheddar Stilton Cropwelll Bishop Golden Cross
Westcombe is an artisan Cheddar made by the Calver family at the Westcombe Farm near Shepton Mallet in Somerset. It is one of the 'big-three' traditional Somerset Cheddars, along with Keen's and Montgomery.

Made with unpasteurised milk and matured for 12-18 months, Westcombe has a slightly grainy texture with small random veins of flavour enriching blue mould.

The taste is strong, noticeably creamy and with an edge of sharpness. The length of flavour is another remarkable feature of Westcombe, so much so that it's known as a 'Five Mile Cheddar' - you can still taste the Cheddar five miles away from the dairy!
The Cropwell Bishop Creamery, located in the Vale of Belvoir just South-East of Nottingham, makes one of the most consistent award-winning Blue Stilton cheeses available.

Named after the village where it is produced, each Blue Stilton cheese is hand made by methods that have changed little since the 17th century. Traditional cheesecraft is now combined with modern facilities to make consistent  Stilton cheeses.

Stilton Cropwell Bishop has a distinctive pattern of blue/green veining created by the addition of penicillium roqueforti during the production process. At it's peak after maturing for around 3 months, it is creamy with a rich but subtle spicy flavour.
Golden Cross is an unpasteurised mould ripened goats cheese in the St. Maure style of cheese. It comes in as a wrapped log weighing around 250g.

Made daily on Kevin and Alison Blunt's farm in Lewes, East Sussex using the milk of their own herd of goats.   Golden Cross is a fresh cheese that is ready to eat 10-14 days after making, but it can also be matured for another 4 weeks.

Each Golden Cross log is lightly charcoaled and becomes denser, creamier and fuller flavoured as it matures.
